The age of holism began 500 years ago with the Renaissance, meaning "rebirth." People were birthed into wholeness, through an understanding of the compatibility between science spirituality. Leonardo Da Vinci is the ideal representative of a "whole person." He was the foremost artist and scientist of his age.

One can date the start of the age of holism from the year 1490 when Leonardo drew the Vitruvian Man, two cojoined forms, with four arms and four legs. In his own words, Leonardo meant this to represent the essential unity of man's material (or scientific) and spiritual (or artistic) nature. From the year 1490 the world became a much bigger place. The new world was soon to be discovered by Columbus.

The Magical Proportions of Man

The Da Vinci Man is the Universal Symbol for Indivisible Wholeness. The two cojoined forms of the Da Vinci Man indicate the essential unity of body and soul, heart and mind, compassion and clarity, balance between work and love, and the male and female within each person. The two cojoined forms of the Da Vinci Man implies that we are an undivided self. We also belong to each other. We are not separate from our world family of brothers and sisters. The world is our family! Only when we feel one with our neighbor can we love them as our very self.

500 years later, the wholeness of the human personality is accepted worldwide through Abraham Maslow's understanding of the Hierarchy of Human Needs. Our physiological needs of food, clothing and shelter allow us to fulfill our spiritual needs for belongingness, self-actualization and transcendence.

This is also the 500 th Anniversary of the Mona Lisa, illustrated by Leonardo from 1503-1507. Why is the Mona Lisa the world's most famous painting? Leonardo's brush strokes cannot even be detected by x-ray photography! It has been scientifically demonstrated that the Mona Lisa is also a self-portrait of Leonardo. Perhaps part of the popularity of the Mona is in the fact that the painting reminds us of our own wholeness. In the Mona Lisa, Leonardo demonstrates the essential union of the male and female aspects of the Divine Within us.

Why a National Association for Success and Wholeness?

The scientific age degraded into a form of atomism. The parts became separate from the whole. Quantum theory actually indicates that particles and waves are complementary and essentially one. That is why Niels Bohr, a founding father of quantum theory, chose the Yin-Yang as his family shield upon receiving knighthood by the King of England. However, the Copenhagen Theory of quantum physics ruled out the essential unity of particle and wave. This was considered to be too philosophical.

It was as if science removed the unifying T'ai Chi or circle around the Yin and Yang. It would be akin to removing the circle around Leonardo's Da Vinci Man and making the two forms separate a little from each other. As far as the scientists were concerned, since the practical scientific rabbit kept coming out of the magical hat and produced such accurate theories, why bother investigating the hat? We've got the baby, let's throw out the bath water!

The Copenhagen Interpretation of quantum theory is highly counterintuitive. It rules out mind, emotions, heart and spirit. This narrow focus cuts us off from the angelic and best parts of ourselves, proclaiming man to be merely a three-dimensional object, separated from a multi-dimensional universe. The unfortunate consequence of being cut off from the most wonderful parts of ourselves creates a divided self, driven by the physiological needs of Maslow's Hierarchy, yet ignoring our spiritual needs for belongingness, self actualization and transcendent needs. As Abraham Maslow said, "It's like ignoring human nature from the waist up."

When 1930's science cut us off from investigating the noblest parts of ourselves, we become invalidated and disempowered. Violence of humanity against each other and the environment can be traced back to this wall of scientific separation. It created an "I win, you lose" mentality versus a "win-win," "we are all in this" together harmony. The Copenhagen Theory made science irrelevant to the spiritual needs of humanity.

When we feel cut off from ourselves, we lack inner peace and try to achieve it through addictive behavior. However, when we feel whole within, we feel peaceful. This creates peace on earth and goodwill towards all.

Fortunately, David Bohm realized the limits of the Copenhagen Theory of Interpretation. He is famous for discovering a fourth state of matter. At high temperatures, Bohm discovered that plasma acted as a fourth state of matter. It seemed as if the electrons were guided by some intelligence, inspiring them to act as one unit. He began a six-month dialogue with Albert Einstein, under whom he worked as an assistant. Einstein looked upon Bohm as his spiritual heir. Einstein proclaimed that if anyone could discover a unified field, it would be David Bohm.

Bohm came to the conclusion that the universe consisted of an implicate (or essential) order of undivided wholeness. This essentially means that things on the inside are whole, and the world as we see it was one of appearances (the explicate order). The source of life is like a higher dimensional superhologram. This is where we are essentially one.

From here, the world is like a projection. This is similar to the film being in a projector yet appearing to project on a screen. A more dramatic example is the film inside a planetarium projector which appears to project the universe onto a planetarium dome.

David's work influenced his student John Bell, who theorized that all things at the subatomic level are essentially unified. Bell's Theorem was actually proved by Alain Aspect in 1982. Aspect demonstrated that the spin of one photon, though separated miles away from another one, could influence the spin of another photon. This meant that there was some instantaneous action interconnecting all of life. It's as if the universe were one interconnected body or entity. The Proof of Bell's Theorem rocked the very foundations of the old guard interpretation of quantum theory. This theory has been proven time and again. It's like tearing down the Berlin Walls of scientific misinterpretation of quantum theory. The emperor has no clothes!

Holism is breaking through the foundations of the old misinterpretation of quantum theory. It's like a shoot (with both root and stem, akin to the essential holism of particle and wave) breaking through the sidewalk.

Science has discovered some amazing similarities with spirituality. Scientific models are starting to look more and more like religious experiences, art and symbols. These are revealed in the 400 illustrations of the Da Vinci Man Code.

Examples of Indivisible Wholeness from science and religion can be represented by the two cojoined forms of the circled Da Vinci Man. This is why the Da Vinci Man, is an ideal representation of the 21 st paradigm of Indivisible Wholeness. Let us join together in harmony to create a great symphonic orchestra.

We can be the 100 th monkey. It turns out that if a monkey learns how to perform a task, even if he is separated from other monkeys who don't see him performing this task, it becomes easier for the other monkeys to learn how to do this task. This has been demonstrated time and again with laboratory rates.

We can join our voices to help make Indivisible Wholeness the Paradigm of the 21 st Century. Right now, the current, though fading, scientific paradigm of separation still predominates (even though holistic medicine is starting to become more popular).

This is like putting a mask over our head and forcing us to think three dimensionally. Peer pressure is placed on all of us to appreciate our three dimensional material nature - the one that fights for food, clothing and shelter. According to Abraham Maslow, that's like ignoring the rest of our body from the waste up (our belongingness, self actualization and transcendent or spiritual needs). The science of indivisible wholeness now proclaims that you don't have to lose in order for me to win!

The paradigm of Indivisible Wholeness will create greater inner peace. This will lead to greater peace on earth and goodwill towards all. Only when we recognize that we are one with each other can we love our neighbor as our self.
